Mataja Residence

The Architects faced two particular challenges, which drove the design of this project. The site is situated in an environmentally sensitive area adjacent to National Park Service area. Strict zoning and numerous agency approvals that squelch much of the development proposed for this area balance out the dramatic views and rich local history that makes this site desirable. The second challenge came from the clients. Their passion for the technological car culture and their desire to retreat from an urban lifestyle presented an intriguing yet paradoxical opportunity.
