Because of the dramatic valley views off the West end of the lot, and a client desire to use an abundance of glass, this design is taking on the challenge of disguising interior/exterior thresholds. There are two techniques being studied and employed; 1-Materials and solid surfaces continue from the interior to the exterior seemingly uninterrupted. This technique is enhanced by pocketing glass walls which can open entirely. 2-Ground planes, ceiling planes, and wall planes are continuous and disrupt the conventional appearance of stacked floor plates. The exterior ground surface becomes interior surfaces and retaining walls become interior walls.
